It also supervises and controls gambling and horse racing, which are organized through the companies Norsk Tipping and Norsk Rikstoto. These companies have a national monopoly on gambling and horse racing, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n<?xml encoding=\"UTF-8\"><p>The Authority aims to:<\/p>\n\n\n<?xml encoding=\"UTF-8\"><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><?xml encoding=\"UTF-8\"><li>ensure that gaming activities are arranged in a satisfactory manner under public control<\/li>\n\n\n<?xml encoding=\"UTF-8\"><li>prevent negative consequences of gaming<\/li>\n\n\n<?xml encoding=\"UTF-8\"><li>ensure that profit from games can be allocated to approved &lsquo;good causes&rsquo;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<?xml encoding=\"UTF-8\"><p>The Norwegian Gambling Authority is also responsible for administering several grant schemes for voluntary organizations. A separate department has been established to handle grant management.<\/p>\n\n\n<?xml encoding=\"UTF-8\"><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-foundation-authority\">The Foundation Authority<\/h2>\n\n\n<?xml encoding=\"UTF-8\"><p>Norwegian foundations are subject to supervision and control by The Foundation Authority. The basic element in this work is to ensure that the foundations are loyal to their purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n<?xml encoding=\"UTF-8\"><p>In order to promote investment in foundations as long-term ownership, and to achieve a better overview of the foundations, Norway adopted legislation in 2001 requiring all foundations to register in a national register, The Norwegian Foundation Register (NB: This website is in Norwegian only).<\/p>\n\n\n<?xml encoding=\"UTF-8\"><p>The basic element in the Authority&#8217;s work is to ensure that the foundations are loyal to their purpose and to:<\/p>\n\n\n<?xml encoding=\"UTF-8\"><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><?xml encoding=\"UTF-8\"><li>operate and further develop a foundation register<\/li>\n\n\n<?xml encoding=\"UTF-8\"><li>detect and prevent foundations being established illegally or otherwise violating statutes and the Foundations Act<\/li>\n\n\n<?xml encoding=\"UTF-8\"><li>provide relevant information and guidance to foundations, the public and the government on this topic<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<?xml encoding=\"UTF-8\"><p>Every other year a national foundation conference is held in F&oslash;rde on topics that are relevant to both small and large foundations.<\/p>\n\n\n<?xml encoding=\"UTF-8\"><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-contact-us\">Contact us<\/h2>\n\n\n<?xml encoding=\"UTF-8\"><p>Director General, Atle Hamar<br>Telephone: +47 99 28 43 00.
